On Thanksgiving in Texas, two things are synonymous, Turkey and Football. Most Texans settle down to watch the Dallas Cowboys play after Thanksgiving lunch and then watch the Longhorns Thanksgiving night. While it won't be the normal Lone Star Showdown people are used to seeing, Texas vs. Texas A&M, the Longhorns will be renewing a conference rivalry with former Southwest Conference foe the TCU Horned Frogs. The Frogs are taking the place of the Aggies in this year's in state rivalry and while the tradition of the A&M game may not be there, this game still has major implications for the Longhorns.
With Kansas State's loss to Baylor last Saturday night, it has re-opened a door that some thought may have been shut. The conference is once again wide open and with a win over TCU and then a win in Manhattan on December 1st, the Longhorns could have themselves a ticket to a BCS bowl. Couple that with an OU loss in their Bedlam Rivalry game with Oklahoma State this weekend, a shot at the Big 12 Championship may also still be in the picture.
It's time for the Longhorns to step up and play the way they have been playing since the Oklahoma loss, the offense needs to be in full swing Thursday night and the defense has to be ready to stop the Horned Frogs balanced offensive attack. So have a Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Longhorns101 and Hook'em Horns!Tags: NCAA, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas, Texas Longhorns
